Leave the big city behind and enjoy the countryside and villages on the outskirts. Explore the Cu Chi tunnels & enjoy a fun bike ride through villages and plantations, a small sample of the immense network of tunnels used by the Viet Cong to an unbeatable advantage during the US-Vietnam conflict.

Whilst Saigon is a vibrant and exciting city, it won’t be long before you will be craving some quieter, open spaces. This tour gives you that and so much more as we show you the real Vietnam, only a short distance from the largest city. Riding comfortable, impeccably maintained bikes with the guidance of a charming, well spoken local, this trip will take you through peaceful villages, to see agricultural landscapes and the daily life of the Southern Vietnamese people.

Details:

We will pick you up from your hotel and then head out of Ho Chi Minh City toward Tan Phu Trung village and bike ride through villages where the scars of war are still evident. Ride along paved roads and dirt paths past and bomb craters that bear witness to years of struggle.

Upon arrival you cycle through rubber plantations and observe the locals harvesters as they gather latex from the trees. Visit rice paper-making workshop before arriving at the Cu Chi tunnels for the 15-minute documentary film about their creation. Learn the history of conflict amongst the Cu Chi people and their rivals.

Then continue on toward the tunnel site where simple weapons for fighting are displayed here. Head down real tunnels dug by the Viet Cong and experience just how brave the Vietnamese were during the war.

After sampling authentic Viet Cong food in a historical kitchen, move back on the bus and transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City and toward your hotel arround 2:00 PM.

TUNNELS

Visit one of the Vietnam War’s most famous historical sites, the Cu Chi Tunnels. These are just part of an awe inspiring network of tunnels used in war times as bunkers, soldiers quarters, bases and armories, the Cu Chi location has been adapted to make is safe for visitors to take a peek and experience what it must have been like to live in an underground village.

Cycling Roads

We ride around 30km through small communities on quiet back roads, trails and paths. Traffic is not something you will need to contend with and the shade of the rubber plantations helps to keep us cool. Along the way, we will see rice paper making and various other village industries as well as people working their fields and tending to livestock. The independence of the bike allows us to stop and chat with locals and to learn a little about their lives.
